What a Target Installation Day Can Produce

This business can generate a lot of owner profit without requiring much money up front. A well-trained owner-operator can target $4,000 to $5,000 of installed work per day. At first-year job margins above 60%, that can put $2,500 or more in owner profit from a target day.

Start lean

Launch this business for less than $5,000, excluding training tuition.

Use deposits to fund the season

Early customer deposits can help pay for materials, equipment and later-season marketing.

Sell to people ready to celebrate

Your customers are already excited about the season and willing to spend money making it special.

Job margins and total business profit are different measures. These examples describe an owner-operator doing the installation work. Actual margins and daily production depend on pricing, job mix, market, experience, labor and execution.

From idea to takedown

Leave with a plan for the whole business

Practice the work and take home the curriculum playbook. Here is what you will work through with the instructors.

Step 01

Build the foundation

Name and position your company, establish your website and Google presence, and understand what you need to launch.

Step 02

Make the phone ring

Learn the lead-generation and Meta advertising systems we use in our own operating businesses right now.

Step 03

Quote, sell and close

Follow up with leads, measure properties, design displays, price work and confidently ask for the sale.

Step 04

Deliver professional work

Choose and order materials, work with power and timers, install cleanly, and troubleshoot common field problems.

Step 05

Finish the whole season

Build repeatable systems for maintenance, takedown, organization and storage, not just the first installation.

Step 06

Know your numbers

Understand the economics behind an owner-operated lighting company and how we would launch one today for under $5,000.

The under-$5,000 launch example excludes event tuition and will vary by market, equipment choices, inventory and business setup.

They Left Corporate Careers to Build Businesses of Their Own

Tyler and Thomas met at UNC-Chapel Hill, then followed corporate careers in finance and retail operations. They left those careers and went full-time building home-service businesses together in 2023.

Their first service brand started part-time with less than $500. They have not taken outside investment since. Today, they operate five home-service brands doing more than $1 million per year.

Tyler Wallace & Thomas Hester

Friends before they were business partners

Their first lighting season started with no Christmas light customers and a small contact list from their pressure-washing business. They ran the ads, quoted jobs and did the installs. Now they train a team, still sell the work and still get on installations every season.

Meet Tyler and Thomas: their backgrounds and experience

Tyler Wallace

Numbers, Growth and Repeatable Systems

Tyler spent eight years improving processes and managing large, complex budgets at one of the country's largest banks. He later moved to New York to advise financial-services companies. That work taught him how to design a product, take it to market, organize people and build systems that can repeat and scale. He now applies that same approach to each home-service business.

Thomas Hester

Teams, Execution and Multi-Unit Operations

Thomas started his career running multi-location operations for ALDI. He was accountable for the people, performance and daily execution across a high-volume retail operation. He left corporate work first, pursued real estate ventures and helped launch their first service brand part-time. Today, he leads teams, turns plans into field processes and keeps the work moving when the season gets busy.

Built by doing the work

The Details They Had to Figure Out

Every season exposed another bottleneck. Tyler and Thomas tested the fixes in their own ads, sales process and installations, then turned what worked into systems their team could repeat.

Pre-bulb jobs before installation day
Code takedowns for easy reinstallations
Target and manage Meta ads in-house
Warm up leads with fast follow-up sequences
Customize AI voice agents so calls get answered
Build practical AI tools around the real work

The goal is simple: less wasted time, fewer missed opportunities, easier training, cleaner repeat work and a better experience for the customer.

Why this intensive exists

The Whole Business, Start to Finish

The industry training Tyler and Thomas found usually made operators choose. They could learn product and installation, or they could learn leads and sales. Other events became a pitch for the next offer.

So they built one practical intensive that follows the actual business from branding and lead generation through sales, installation, takedown, storage and repeat-customer outreach. It is the training they wish they had when they started.

Learn the Complete Playbook

A seasonal business that fits your goals

Whether you have time around shifts or school, run a service crew, or want to start your first business, the intensive follows the whole job. You need time to sell and deliver the work. You do not need an existing Christmas light company.

Why this is live

You Cannot Learn the Whole Job on a Webinar

A webinar can explain lead generation, pricing and sales. It cannot put an instructor beside you while you measure a property, handle product, work from a ladder, solve a power problem or correct an installation. That part has to happen in the field.

Being there also gives you time to ask the training team questions about your business and meet other installers who are launching, building or growing their own operations.

Build Meta ads and a lead follow-up system
Use the sales language and quoting process we use
Measure and design real properties
Handle and install professional lighting products
Work through power, timers and troubleshooting
Get corrected during live outdoor installation work
Ask the training team questions between sessions
Meet installers at different stages of the business
